Dogs can be a handful at times. Their cute but demanding behaviours can get on your nerves, irrespective of your affection towards them. But who can ignore the weird habits that they carry on with all-round their day? Can you? Nope. Dogs are so affectionate that you cannot stay angry for long. Especially, when they try and pretend to be something that they are not. Today, that is what we are going to take a look at.
For all the dogs, size is just an illusion, which they happily ignore. Giant dogs can seem to carry a scary look, but keep the heart of a fairy. They might try and make their way to your lap, just like they used to when they were puppies. On the contrary, smaller dog breeds might just run you out of your wits by barking their heads off at some random stranger, and you are totally out of control, and at the mercy of your pet pooch. Yes! Small dogs being more protective and possessive are a common sign. Let’s see some cool fun facts about dogs, depending on their sizes!
1. Large Dogs are Self Secured
Most large dog breeds are known to be calm, and quiet. They are less aggressive as compared to smaller breed, given the way they perceive the world around them. Large dogs do not demand much attention, as most go by the philosophy of silent dignity. They are comfortable in their own skin, and content with their surroundings around. If you own one large dog breed, you shall know that you will be the one demanding their attention at times and not the other way round!
2. Small Breeds Insecure
Smaller dog breeds often see themselves as an outsider, and they constantly feel the need to prove themselves to the humans. Thus, demanding more attention all day long is one of their prominent habits. They shall not give up easily. Also, they are more demanding than any large dog breeds. They may at times act much bigger than their sizes.
3. ‘Large Means More’ is a Myth
As we think, most large dog breeds are just too lazy to walk around or play. But it’s all a myth. Large dogs do not need more exercise by virtue of their majorly inactive, slothful nature. Most large breed would be content with a long stroll outside. Their bodies are not wired for any heavy exercises and they find no need to burn off extra energy, as they have just enough to go by the day.
4. Small should not be Underestimated
Small breeds are most cunning breed around. They sneak around and find a way to get what they want. Be it the puppy eyes, or the annoying bark, or just stealthy instincts. They will make their own path to their desired destination. Caution: Never leave food alone in their presence. They may trick you to believe that they will not eat it. But only until you are gone.
5. Big Dogs are Gentle Giants
Big dogs are more gentle towards their owners and family. They may look scary but are truly fragile by heart. They show soft emotions in their actions. They understand better and are not as demanding and stubborn as smaller breeds. They are even good with kids, given their humble nature and tolerance to a little rough handling.
6. Small Dogs Spy
Yes. You may not believe this but small dogs keep an eye on everything. Where larger breeds are more self-satisfied, smaller breeds need to keep an eye on everything that their human does. Right from the time the human wakes up, till the time he sleeps, your small dog shall have a record of each and every activity that you do. Mind well, he knows exactly where you are and what you are doing at what time of the day. You may not find him, but he knows where to find you!
7. Large Breed Train Easily
Larger Dog breeds are easier to train as they have a greater sense of self-accomplishment, as compared to smaller breeds. This probably is an outcome of a shift in human interaction with larger breeds. Big breed owners seem more compelled to keep their dogs on the leash, and in control, since they are big and seemingly tough to handle. Though that’s not the case.
8. Small Dog Perch
Since they are small, and they feel they need to be important, so they perch themselves at places like window panes, sofa tops, tabletops, on chairs, etc. This way, they feel satisfied that they are able to look authoritative. After all, they need attention, and they need to be heard. What else could they do?
9. Big Dogs Need More Maintenance
Indeed. The fact stays obvious as they have more body area and more fur to care for, and more to eat, and more of everything else. Big breed runs a risk of breeding infectious tics on their coat, or at different parts of the body. They need regular medical checkups to avoid any unwanted happenings. And yes, they even need big beds!
10. Small Dogs are not so small
Yes, just like bigger breeds, smaller dog breed needs maintenance. Though not always medical attention but they need to be groomed well, else most often, they end up looking shabby and dirty. Their fur coats grow way beyond their sizes and this may make them look creepy and make them annoyed and irritated. And yes, small does not ever mean small by the mind. Smaller breeds are deemed smarter than a few large breeds. They also need more mental and physical stimulation to channelize their super energies for their own benefit.
Like we see here, dogs never really understand what their size is, and how we humans perceive them differently based on their sizes. They just need a good amount of attention and care. They will act as they will irrespective of their sizes. It is their own way to make their presence known in the family. Size is just an illusion for dogs.
